OLD SCHOOL / Drama School

OLD SCHOOL was a design based on a myspace friends picture. She had seem the design and was happy about it. A half year later the design was slated to be part of the Series 03 sticker run. At that point said friend was informed of the stickers and we were planning to give her a stack of them as thanks.

This is where the fun starts...

A series of odd event occurred starting with a strange phone call in the middle of the night by someone drunk belligerent and claiming to be taping the call for use in court. The photographer claimed that we had trampled his good name and that we were simply jealous of all the women he had seduced during photo shoots.

We found the situation amusing at the time. It was the continuous refusal to take us to court combined with the continuous late night drunken triads at 3am that got kinda weird. And the reposting of our designs by this individual online without our consent would have made an even more substantial case for copyright infringement, but alas, you can't counter sue if no one sues you first...

Granted we did have great conversations about the nature of transformative and derivative works.

It was after blowing off this persons demands that we turn over everything featuring the design to him that we instead tossed the stickers and postcards into the promotional pile and gave them away and placed them all over the city for the whole town to enjoy.

Although we did find a large number of the postcards had been torn down and tossed in the ditch in front of our private residence. And the individual continued to harass and troll us and other online associates for years afterwards...

Some people just don't know how to take a compliment.

The campaign was revised without a hitch and OLD SCHOOL 2.0 survives on postcards and limited edition posters planned for the near future.
